desperately seeking updates...

above is ivy in her spankin' new pool on our deck - the lil' miss just can't get enough of the summer sun & splashing about in any water! at any rate, i know it has been forever since i posted - i have two cute little excuses, plus the fact that i have been trying to upload video and apparently can't find an easy path on this new computer, so bear with me. in light of recent chiding for not having posted, here are a bunch of photos - some older (near the bottom), some newer. needless to say, we're adoring our two wee girls, and the adjustment from one to two children has been more seamless than we ever dared hope possible! so, i'll post videos as i get a clue, and in the meantime, enjoy these photos! xoxo

first kidd family trip to the beach - 6.24.09 - at first ivy was reluctant to so much as touch a toe in the sand, however once daddy tricked her into building a sand castle, she could not be stopped - running up and down the beach and brazenly into the waves (NO fear which provoked MUCH fear in mommy & daddy) - note the feet held precariously above the sand in the shot below!

happy birthday, dahlia!

happy birthday to dahlia jeanne kidd! we were blessed with her arrival at 4:15am on saturday, may 30, 2009 after 5 hours and 30 minutes of intense and beautiful labor. she wieghed in at 6 lbs, 10oz, and measured 21inches. we had such an amazing birth journey with our friends at the birth center, and literally could not have asked for things to go smoother!

ivy's first words

4/21/09...ummm...she's basically just talking non-stop now, earning her the nickname "lil' miss chatterbox" :)
in the months since i've posted, ivy's accumulated really too many words to count..some that come to mind right now are: cheese, mommy (melts my heart every time), daddy, shelley, piper, mark, outside, car, please, baby, book, up, down, out, bird, pee-pee, poo-poo, tree, wow, cookie, bath, quack-quack, shoes, socks...the list seriously grows daily
aa-oo (thank you) so polite, our little miss!
aaiuhoo (i love you) - so stinkin' cute and sweet - we thought it would only be a matter of time before she started parroting this, since she hears it so much!
tuuhtul (turtle)...we have a peice of hawaiian artwork with turtles hanging directly in her bathtime view, and last night (8/12/08), this was where "the point" and the "diss" fixed upon...so smart!
hhhht (hot)...a long, open-mouthed "hhhh" sound followed by the "t"...somehow the vowel never makes it in, but it's more dramatic and even more cute this way!
jituuulh (gentle)...can you tell what we;ve been working on here?!!
nana (banana)
no! (with finger pointed at whom/whatever she is saying "no" to!) although I have yet to hear/see this for myself, Ivy's beloved caregiver, Shelley, relayed to me that Ivy, clear as day, firmly told her playmate Mark "no" twice when he was splashing her in the pool! UNbelievable!
haaaa (hi - sounds like she's saying it with a long Southern drawl...very Aunt Brookie!)

mama's homemade ...balls - since we recently found out that ivy has iron-deficient anemia (easily treatable and temporary), we're bulking up her iron intake, meaning mama makes not only meatballs but tofu-kale-brown rice-cheese balls, both of which are packed with iron, and both of which ivy constantly signs "more" for!
ice cream...although I make a really funny face from the cold, I just love its sweet, creamy deliciousness sooo much!
cheese - I eat it as fast as mommy or daddy can cut it! I'd eat a whole meal of cheese if mommy would only let me! I wonder where I get that from...hmmm??
strawberries...once mama cut them up, they were the only thing I'd eat off my tray Wednesday night! mmm...
pickles(!!...hence, a new nickname was thus christened by daddy!)

ivy's recommended summer reading

"We Are Family"...the cutest book with real pictures of adorable animal families - coincidentally, she started picking this up the morning that we went to the zoo, and it has since become her #1 book request in the mornings!
"Goodnight, Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown...I find that this is best enjoyed with a shot of mama's milk or whilst in daddy's arms...ah, the good life!
"Pat the Bunny" by Dorothy Kunhardt...each...page...torn...apart...chew marks...love all around...'nuff said
"The Wheels On the Bus" by Paul O. Zelinsky...as soon as I come down to the living room in the morning, it is the FIRST book I seek out EVERY morning! The moving parts intrigue me so...although the bus driver has had to have his arm re-attached, and the windshield wiper blades have some serious duct tape holding them together!
