sunday in the park with ivy

this weekend was positively gorgeous, so outside we headed! here are some shots (and video) of boo bear having her run of the playground with mommy & daddy!

i have no clue as to why the easter bunny would leave jelly beans in our shoes as a kid, as i have never heard of anyone outside the terrill clan for whom mr. bunny would show this favor, but when teresa asked me the other day if i, i mean the easter bunny, was going to leave ivy jelly beans in her shoes, i certainly didn't want to break the tradition. ivy was of course thrilled to peices to discover the jeeps (her pet name for jelly beans) in her new sandals this morning. anyone know where/why this tradition started? any non-terrills have these carnuba wax and sugar delicacies deposited in your footwear as a child as well, or am i a part of an oddly blessed and chosen clan?...(the answer to the latter obviously being 'yes,' for a variety of reasons :) )
jeeps first thing in the morning?! these crazy traditions are great!
ivy literally tackling her easter basket to the ground...she had a few jeeps and a cadbury egg, but her favorite part was her spankin' new pink soccer ball - you might think that i snapped a few shots of her kicking it around the house nonstop, but getting ribbons in hair and diaper bag packed for church & dinner at grandpa & grandma's took precedence.

sorry for the sideways-ish-ness of this video...she just kept laughing and i grabbed the camera and was just happy to capture the moment - this was this morning as she was on the phone with cousin lexie - for some reason she thought it hilarious when she would say hi to lexie and lexie would say hi back...could have been the jelly beans (or jeeps, as she sometimes calls them) talking...either way, it was too cute!

i'm beginning to realize that a lot of my posts include pic's of us cooking - i'll try to broaden my horizons, but yesterday we embarked on an easter bunny cookie-making journey. it began with making the dough in the morning (am also realizing that a lot of pic's of me are in my pj's with no makeup and bed head...again, will try to remedy that, perhaps for my own sanity & vanity more than anything!)
the journey continues with icing making (and ever-important tasting)
...and picks up after naptime (note that we have made it into clothes at this point) with decorating - needless to say, ivy quickly became more interested in putting the frosting in her mouth and shaking the sprinkles absolutely everywhere - sugar high, anyone???
mmm...you might think that here would be an appropriate place to showcase the fruits of our labors...you might think...i however, did not notice the copious absence of easter bunny cookies in this photo collection until now...guess you'll have to stay tuned

oh, do you know the muffin maven?

so, usually on sundays ivy and mommy are up somewhere between 6 and 7am. since daddy works until all hours most saturday nights, we try to let him sleep in. it's become a tradition for ivy and me to bake now in the wee hours of our sunday mornings, and i treasure the time. everyone wins...i love sharing this time and experience with my eager apprentice and taster, ivy absolutely LOVES to measure, pour, stir and taste, and daddy gets to wake up to the smells of mama & ivy's latest creation (plus we have yummy wholesome baked goods that usually last the whole week). on this particular sunday, our concoction was berry streusel power muffins - major yum!











i think it needs just a little more cinnamon, mommy!...here, you can take this off my sleeper!
